The ENO team has been deeply saddened and affected by the devastation and tragedy the people of Haiti have had to endure. Though so many individuals and organizations have graciously teamed up and extended a helping hand, there is still a long road ahead and a difficult rebuilding process. We would like to extend an opportunity for you to help this process through a purchase on our website. For every $100 of online sales, ENO will donate and ship a hammock and SlapStraps to Haiti. A hammock can help provide a volunteer or unfortunate resident comfortable sleep accommodations.
In addition, we are also giving our customers the opportunity to purchase a Guardian Bugnet for Haiti for only $10.
We received these pictures from a military officer who was in Haiti during the earthquake relief mission.
We all know that hammocks are awesome for a lazy Sunday afternoon nap and setting up alongside your camp at a music festival. But have you ever considered using that same hammock on your next camping or backpacking excursion? Using it in place of the ol’ trusty tent? Here are our top 10 reasons you should opt out of the confines of tent camping and grab up your ENO hammock for the ultimate outdoor sleep experience.
#10 Chances of a wash out in the middle of the night are significantly less in a hammock.
#9 In a hammock, there is no fear of a root or rock going into your back or tooshie.
#8 In a hammock, middle of the night whizzes are a snap – no looking for door zippers, no waking the person next to you, and if you’re skilled enough (and a dude) you probably don’t even have to get up.
#7 The swinging motions in hammocks have been proven to reduce stress, relax the mind and body to a point of meditation, alleviate neck and back pain, and is beneficial for Autistic patients and those diagnosed with ADD and ADHD. What has your tent done for you lately, huh?
#6 In a hammock, you don’t have to sleep uncomfortably close to your buddy who snores like a grizzly and likes to spoon in the morning.
#5 Anyone say set up? Dare to race?
#4 Hammocks leave less trace and impact than a tent.
#3 PRICE!
#2 No one ever got drunk and fell into my hammock crushing it leaving me no place to sleep.
#1 In a hammock, there is no “Dutch Oven” effect after a hearty meat and bean based meal, so let ‘em rip!

Mountain Xpress, Ashevilles’ savvy and all-in-one source for local/community news, hot happenings, music, and more, recently featured ENO and founding brothers, Pete and Paul Pinholster , in the outdoor section of the Sept. 16 – Sept. 22 issue. Writer, Jack Igelman, recalls ENO’s roots and how the company went from sewing their first hammock on their mom’s Singer to present day company highs and sleeping in a hammock. Igleman states, “And one of the benefits of using a hammock is its light-footed impact: Come morning, it’s much more difficult to detect the former presence of a hammock than it is a tent.”

ENO was extremely excited to pair up with Clean Vibes during the 2009 Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, TN. Clean Vibes, an awesome organization that has been with Bonnaroo since the beginning, works very hard to actively promote recycling, composting, and proper waste disposal at outdoor festivals and events. Clean Vibes enacted the ‘Trading Post’ and attendees could bring in bottles, cans, and items to recycle and trade for cool gear and products. The concert goer that brought in the most ’stuff’ won Bonnaroo tickets for 2010! ENO helped the cause and donated hammocks, straps, pillows, and a festival blanket, the Launch Pad. The Trading Post was hugely successful and (in addition to the Gathering of the Vibes festival in New England) collected 280,000 bottles and cans!
At Bonnaroo Clean Vibes managed to divert 65% by volume (33% by weight) of the total waste produced during the 4 day event. Here is a simple breakdown:
2,170 cubic yards (130.74 tons) of recycling
500 cubic yards (~30 tons) of compost
1,420 cubic yards (329.47) tons landfilled
2.5 tons of donated food*
