ENO Announces Partnership with Trees for the Future to Plant Two Trees for Every Hammock Sold

Asheville, NC, April 18, 2018– ENO (Eagles Nest Outfitters), creators of ingeniously crafted camping hammocks and innovative outdoor accessories, is partnering with the nonprofit organization Trees for the Future to help transform degraded farmlands into thriving Forest Gardens by planting two trees for every hammock sold.

“As a hammock company we know the importance of trees.  Partnering with Trees for the Future perfectly aligns with our mission to protect and preserve the environment,” said Lane Nakaji, General Manager of ENO.  “Each tree planted through our hammock sales allows us to positively impact communities in poverty through education and mentoring, while also helping to cool the planet by working towards offsetting our carbon footprint.”

Trees for the Future uses the Forest Garden approach to help enrich degraded environments.  The Forest Garden Program is a simple, replicable, and scalable approach.  By decreasing the use of destructive farming practices such as burning, clearing and plowing, Forest Gardens reduce deforestation by eliminating farmers’ dependence on forests for food, timber, and many other non-timber forest products. The positive environmental impacts of a Forest Garden are endless.

“Using simple tools and training, we can help millions of people improve their lives, their land, and their legacy,” said Trees for the Future Executive Director, John Leary.

ENO will add Trees for the Future to their Giving Back program.  Through this program ENO commits to giving 1% of their annual sales to support nonprofit organizations focused on the environment.

About Trees for the Future

Trees for the Future (TREES) is an international development nonprofit that meets a triple bottom line by planting trees: poverty alleviation, hunger eradication, and healing the environment. Through our Forest Garden Approach we train farmers to plant and manage Forest Gardens that sustainably feed families, raise their incomes by 400 percent, and end deforestation. TREES receives donations to implement our work in areas where we can have the greatest impact. We currently work across 5 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa: Cameroon, Kenya, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda. Since 1989, TREES has planted over 150 million trees.
