ENO Frequently Asked Questions

I’m new to hammocking. What do I need to get started?

All you need is a hammock and hammock straps. All ENO hammocks come with a set of carabiners or aluminum toggles to attach to your hammock suspension system.

Carabiners are compatible with all ENO hammock straps, whereas our lightweight toggles are compatible with our Helios Hammock Straps. You can add carabiners to any hammock with toggles if you want to use the Atlas Hammock Straps or Apollo Hammock Straps.

Our TravelNest Hammock + Straps Combo as well as some of our hammock bundles come with straps included. Be sure to check the product description or contact us at: mail@enonation.com with any questions.

How do I wash my ENO Hammock and other accessories?

You can find product care instructions on the backside of your product’s tyvek label attached to each stuff sack as well as at our Product Setup and Care page.

For hammocks, we recommend removing carabiners and either hand washing or machine washing in a front loading washer with mild detergent. Hang to dry. Learn how to wash your hammock in more detail at this blog.

How do I use my ENO Hammock? How do I care for my hammock?

You can find complete set up and care instructions attached to each ENO product's stuff sack, or our Product Set Up & Care page.

Here are a few helpful reminders:

Check your gear before each use to ensure it is in good, working condition. What should you look for? Check out our Safety & Instructions page.

Only use your ENO products as directed - never hang your hammock higher than 18" from the ground when in use and only hang it from secure attachment points like healthy, mature trees or a hammock stand. Not sure? Don't risk it.

Never leave your hammock outside when not in use (even just for the weekend). Store it in its attached stuff sack in a cool, dry, dark space when not in use. UV damage causes your ENO Hammock to fade in color and become brittle which leads to tearing. If you see discoloration on your hammock - it is time to replace it.

While hammocking, remember to remove any sharp objects from your person, i.e. pocket knives, car keys and/or stilettos. Shar objects can puncture or tear your hammock.

Remember that puppies and kitties love hammocking, too, but they’ve got sharp nails so hammock with caution. If any small tears (2 inches or less) do appear, pick up a Hammock Repair Kit.

Remember: using any hammock carries inherent risk. Accidents happen. Use with caution.

For more information, learn how to hammock responsibly and check out our Safety & Instructions page!

Will ENO repair my hammock and other gear?

ENO will repair your hammock back to (almost) new if the stuff sack has come off the hammock, if the compression strap has come off the stuff sack, or if the hammock knots have become untied or are fraying. Additionally, we can repair some other products like hammock bug net clips, tarp cord locks, and Lounger DL Chair shock cord!

We also offer a variety of replacement parts for your ENO products.

Learn more about our product repair program, HangTough Guarantee, or submit your warranty claim by visiting our Warranty Page.

*Large fabric tears cannot be repaired but may be eligible for replacement. Small holes or burns should be repaired at home with our Hammock Repair Kit.

I accidentally untied my hammock knots! What now?

No worries – it’s an easy fix! Follow along with Bryant’s Knot Re-Tie Extravaganza to take care of this at home. If, for any reason, you feel uncomfortable re-tying these knots, apply for a Warranty Repair and we’ll get it all spruced up for you!

Are ENO hammocks breathable?

All of our hammocks are made of breathable materials - from strong and lightweight nylon taffeta to weather-resistant Olefin. You can learn more about a product's material by visiting its product page and clicking on technical specs.

What is the difference between the SingleNest and the DoubleNest Hammocks

All SingleNest and DoubleNest Hammocks are 9′6" length to the fabric ends and will safely hold 400 lbs. The main difference is in the width of each hammock and the weight of each product.

The ENO SingleNest Hammock is designed as a 1 person hammock. It is approximately 4’10″ in width and weighs 16 oz. Best for kids or smaller folks!

The ENO DoubleNest Hammock is designed as a 2 person hammock. It is approximately 6’4″ in width and weighs in at 19 oz. Our most versatile hammock - it is the crowd favorite.

The extra two feet in the width of the DoubleNest Hammock makes for a roomier hammock and a more comfortable seat when sitting across in the hammock for one OR two people. The added width also allows for you to lay on a diagonal which tends offer a flatter sleeping or relaxing position.

What distance is needed between 2 trees or attachment points to hang my hammock?

The distance needed to hang your hammock between trees depends on the diameter of the trees and which hammock you have. Learn about specific distances for each hammock at our Product Setup and Care page, or our ENO Hammock Strap Comparison Blog.

For ENO gathered-end hammocks, you need around 10-15 feet (3-4 meters) between trees to use our Atlas, Helios, or Apollo Straps. For a bit longer distance or larger trees, you can use our Atlas XL or Helios XL Hammock Straps. Our Atlas EXT Straps can be paired with all ENO Hammock Straps to add extra length.

With spreader bar hammocks like the SkyLite Hammock you should aim for 14-18 feet (4-5.5 meters).

For our long backyard hammocks like the SuperNest and SuperNest SL Hammock, the distance between trees should be over 14 feet (4.5 meters).

Still not sure? Feel free to contact us at: mail@enonation.com.

What is the difference between ENO Hammock Straps?

Check out our ENO Hammock Strap Comparison.

Atlas Hammock Straps are polyfilament (like a no-stretch seatbelt material), weigh 9 oz, and are 9′ in length per strap and 1.5″ in width tapering down to .75″ width. The design is called a daisy chain and has 15 attachment points on each strap. Capacity 400 lbs. This is the staff favorite!

Atlas XL Hammock Straps are polyfilament, weigh 13 oz and are 13’6″ in length per strap and 1.5″ in width tapering down to .75″ width. Each strap has 20 attachment points. Capacity 400 lbs. Great for larger trees or longer distances!

The Helios Ultralight Hammock Straps are polyfilament and Silverlite™ cording, weigh only 4.3 oz and are 8’1″ in length per strap and 1″ width. Capacity 300 lbs.

Helios XL Ultralight Hammock Straps are polyfilament and Silverlite™ cording, weigh only 6.3 oz and are 13’5″ in length per strap and 1″ width. Capacity 300 lbs.

Apollo Hammock Straps are polyfilament with stainless steel hardware. The set weighs 19 oz, are 10' in length and 1.5" width, and have a capacity of 400lbs.

All styles are sold as a pair and will work with any style hammock, although toggle style hammocks (Sub-series, JungleNest, and SkyLite) will need a set of carabiners to work with our Atlas and Apollo Hammock Straps.

Do I need a Suspension System or Hammock Straps to use my ENO hammock?

Hammock Straps are sold separately than most ENO hammocks. If you are looking for an all-in-one hammock and strap setup check out our TravelNest Hammock + Straps Combo, Hammock Bundles, and Hammock Shelter Systems.

Your hammock comes with either two aluminum wiregate carabiners or lightweight toggles on the ends that you can use to attach to your chosen hammock straps, hammock stand, or suspension system.

With that being said, our suspension systems make the setup process extremely quick and easy.

You don’t need any knowledge of knots, our hammock straps simply wrap around a tree or secure attachment point and tighten on themselves. With regular rope, you need to find objects that are exactly 10 feet apart.   Not so with our ENO hammock straps.

Which ENO hammocks fit on ENO hammock stands?

All of our hammock stands including the ENOpod, SoloPod, SoloPod XL, Parkway Adjustable Hammock Stand, and Nomad Hammock Stand are compatible with our gathered-end hammocks including the SingleNest, DoubleNest. and DoubleNest Print Hammocks.

Spreader bar hammocks, including the DayLoft, SkyLoft, SkyLite, SuperNest SL, and SuperNest Hammock, are compatible with the SoloPod XL Stand.

The DayLoft Hammock is the only spreader bar hammock that is compatible with the Parkway Adjustable Hammock Stand.

The JungleNest Hammock is NOT compatible with the Parkway Adjustable Hammock Stand or the SoloPod XL Hammock Stand due to its integrated ridgeline and bug net.

Hammocks with toggles, like the Sub-series, JungleNest and SkyLite hammocks require adding carabiners (sold separately).

If using a SoloPod, SoloPod XL, or ENOpod Hammock Stand, be sure to use the steel carabiners included with your stand before use.

Will the bugnets and tarps fit over ENO Hammocks?

ENO Hammock Bug Nets are compatible with most ENO Hammocks, excluding the DayLoft, SkyLoft, SuperNest, and SuperNest SL Hammock. The JungleNest and SkyLite have integrated bug nets.

ENO Rain Tarps and Sun Shades are also designed to easily cover all ENO gathered-end hammocks except the SuperNest and SuperNest SL Hammock.

Our spreader bar hammocks like the DayLoft, JungleNest, SkyLoft, and SkyLite pair best with the ProFly XL Rain Tarp.
