Helen, GA – A Perfect ENO Getaway

I have been visiting Helen, GA since I was a kid. It is a quaint little German-themed town nestled in North Georgia. You can “Shoot the Hooch”, fly fish, camp, shop, hike to Anna Ruby Falls, or just enjoy a nice lunch by the river. Helen is only an hour and a half north of Atlanta, making it a great weekend getaway or a one day trip. Either way, it’s a place where your ENO belongs, so be sure to pack it if you visit.

I hadn’t been to Helen in a few years and I was excited to bring my ENO with me in search of some new places to hang!

Here is what I discovered:

Unicoi State Park: This park has an amazing trail that loops around a lake. It’s a great place to bring your ENO as there are many places you can put your hammock up right next to the lake. There are also several docks you can fish from, so it’s definitely worth it to bring a fishing pole as well.

The Troll Tavern: The Troll Tavern is a restaurant located right on the Chattahoochee in downtown Helen. It has outdoor seating that will place you right next to the river. Once you are done eating, you will notice several trees that are perfect to put your ENO in. You can also walk down the sidewalk a little bit if you want a more secluded area while you hammock.

Anywhere on the Chattahoochee: The “Hooch” runs strait through Helen, and if you are willing do some hiking and exploring, the amount of spots you can hang your hammock from will seem unlimited.

If you are planning on visiting Helen, try to visit during the fall months as the weather will feel amazing and the leaves will be changing colors. It is the perfect ENO getaway!
