Dear ENO...
A hammock is more than gear; it’s where memories are made. In honor of National Hammock Day, we asked ENO users to write a "love letter" to their hammock to honor the memories they've made together.
These customer stories of love, loss, adventure, and peace highlight the meaningful role hammocks play in our lives.
Every Step of the Way - Taylor Morgan
I purchased my ENO (a purple SingleNest) when I started college in 2011. I cannot even imagine how many hundreds, honestly probably thousands, of hours I’ve spent in that hammock.
It helped me raise two great dogs, who also love to hammock, and it’s gotten me through some of the weirder times in my life. My dog, Grim, and I went for a solo camp last weekend, and I noticed the edges are starting to fray. To say I cried over a hammock seems very dramatic, but there were definitely misty eyes that night. I’ve had that hammock longer than most people have cars and mortgages. I can’t bring myself to part with it, although I did order a new one when we got home. The sentimental value is worth more to me than I can put into words.
I can remember the day I bought it. I was so excited to start college and start down a new path in my life. That ENO has been with me every step of the way.

My Second Bedroom - Cody Johnsen
My hammock is my second bedroom. It’s gone nearly over 1000 miles and to 11 different states with me. When I say it’s been through it, that hammock has seen war and come out perfectly fine. It’s been through horribly hot summers and near blizzard conditions, and it’s held me and my gear better than a tent ever has.
Most recently, I was backpacking a small trail near Newport, Oregon with my beloved hammock. I was crossing a log that ran over a small river, and I managed to fall in, soaking everything in my backpack, including my hammock.
I set up my dripping wet hammock, and it dried just before nightfall. I swear that hammock is magic, the way it dried perfectly before night so I would have somewhere warm and dry to sleep. My ENO hammock has forever earned its place in my pack, and I don’t think any other piece of sleep gear could top it!
Better Lunch Breaks - Patrick Fitch
Dear hammock,
You’ve been a part of my life for so many years. It all started with traveling and you providing me with a quick and easy place to rest my head among the trees. Now you go everywhere with me. I’ve shown you to my friends at work and how you make lunch breaks more fun. I feel lost if I leave the house without you! You’ve been with me for a decade next year, and you’re still in great shape! Although we have adopted many of your brothers and sisters, I still take you everywhere. Thank you for all the great memories, and see you tomorrow. I promise to find the best spot to set you up for lunch.

Held Me Tight - Megan Kruse
Dear ENO Hammock,
You've been a source of comfort through life's ups and downs. You helped me feel safe almost a decade ago on my first solo camping trip. You've traveled the country in my pack, seeing incredible scenery in some awe-inspiring places. Most recently, you held me tight as I reeled with a cancer diagnosis at 37 years old. Thank you for being there.
Love,
Megan
Full-Circle Moment - Ashton
My first hammock was gifted to me by my parents when I was in middle school, and now, almost 15 years later, I still have it! This year, my parents gifted my daughter her first hammock, and it was a cool full-circle moment. We take our hammocks on every park trip and camping adventure. Thank you for all the adventures, memories, and nights under the stars.

16 Years of Memories - Cindy Whitehead
Love my ENO hammock! I bought it at a music festival on Grandfather Mountain 15-16 years ago. It's on my Parklite Hammock Chair Stand now. Some of my favorite places to hang it have been my lower deck overlooking the woods, near the Cape Fear River while volunteering at a hiking event, and under my in-laws' deck overlooking the lake.
Sensory Comfort - Will Weaver
Sometimes the best campsite isn't where you sleep—it's where you feel safe.
This photo is one of my favorite memories. We’re a neurodivergent family—I'm autistic, and so is my youngest daughter, Sophie. On her very first camping trip, she woke before everyone else and quietly climbed into my ENO hammock while I had my morning coffee.
The gentle sway and cocoon-like pressure gave her exactly the sensory comfort she needed, and we spent hours there together watching the woods wake up. As an autistic adult, I find the same peace in a hammock. That morning wasn't just about camping—it was about connection, comfort, and sharing a place where we both felt completely at ease. Ever since, an ENO hammock has been one of the first things we pack for every adventure.
Floating on a Cloud - Nona Hare
I got my first hammock from ENO probably two years ago. I love going to the state parks and doing some hiking. When I’m done, I find myself a nice shady area to have a little something to eat, then sit and relax and read. So the first time I set up my hammock, I got my cooler out, sat and ate a little something sitting in my hammock. Then I turned myself around to lie down and read while listening to some R Carlos Nakai. I found myself so relaxed I could not focus on my book. I didn’t quite sleep but felt like I was floating on a cloud. I fell in love with my hammock right there and then. It stays in my car 24/7, and I even got a second one in case I have someone with me.

These Babies Last Forever - Elvia Sanabria
Do I remember my first hammock? Shoot, I still have it! Turns out, if you take care of them, these babies last forever. I bought my first DoubleNest before my son was even a thought, and he spent much of his childhood playing in the hammock.
One of my favorite memories was being at a softball tournament out in the county. The field was in the middle of nowhere. The hotel was a good drive away, and we had all three boys with us: age 7, 5 and 4. Out of nowhere, the sky turned dark, and the rain started pouring down.
I hung up my ENO DoubleNest and got all three kids in there to stay warm and rest. I stood over them with the one umbrella we had, keeping them dry while they rested. Every parent was in awe, asking about the hammock while their kids asked if they could hang out in the hammock too.
Over the years, I've added to my hammock collection, but there will always be a special place for my first hammock. It has been a part of every hiking, camping, and day trip. And by the way, that kid that wasn't even a thought when I first got my hammock, he turned 19 this year. I don't know how old my hammock is, but I know it's over 20 years.

Seen It All - Britta Gaetjens
This isn't just a story about my first hammock; it's also a story of my current hammock. My parents gave me my first hammock for my 12th birthday in 2016. That hammock wandered around Tennessee with me for all of middle and high school. Now, 10 years later, it has survived going to college and doing seasonal wildlife work in New York, Tennessee, and South Dakota. Just last weekend, I spent the night in that hammock in the black hills. Despite being a little more faded and having a few more stains than it once did, that hammock has seen everything with me.

As Long as I Can Remember - Mo Velasquez
Gosh, I’ve loved hammocks for as long as I can remember. At my 10th birthday camping trip, my grandfather pulled a new ENO out of the bed of his truck and gave it to me. I slept in it outside for the first time that night with my favorite people around me.
In the following 15 years, ENO has stayed near and dear. It was brought to sleepaway camps, strung in random parks, packed and traveled to Africa and backpacked in Costa Rica, and brought on college camping trips. And now, it holds my baby son.
It’s been with me for the better half of my life. Who knew a little bag from the bed of a truck could do such a thing?

A Lifeline During COVID - Colby
When everything shut down from the pandemic, ENOs served as the lifeline of my social life. Nature was one of the only places that didn’t shut its doors, so that’s where I often spent my weekends for the entire summer of 2020. Since we couldn’t go anywhere else, my friends and I would hammock. ENOs helped me start connecting with nature while keeping my social life alive during COVID.

What Better Story Could There Be? - David Baker
Here goes…
I bought a SingleNest from ENO. At the end of the day hiking, I set it up. I had dinner, crawled inside, and went to sleep.
—— the end ——
No drama. No rainwater. Just a solid night's sleep. What better story could there be?
