From Minivan to Mountains

It all started back in 1999 with a big dream, hard work, and a passion for adventure and travel.

Our journey began with a ramshackle minivan in the Florida Keys. Our first product, the DoubleNest Hammock, was all about creating the perfect hammock for your outdoor lifestyle—easy to pack and adventure-ready. We sold our hammocks at local festivals and community gatherings- first in our home state of Flordia. We added another van and traveled along the East Coast hitting up more events and spreading the word.

We asked ourselves, “How can we make hammocking even better?" Our answer: make it easier. We designed the first-ever knotless hammock straps, the ENO Slap Straps (an early version of our Atlas Straps). These two products changed the landscape of hammocking for future adventurers and redefined how we explore, connect, and relax.

After becoming weary from years on the road and ready to set roots, we landed in Asheville, NC. Our close friends and colleagues talked about this wonderful mountain town with an epic paddling scene, endless miles of hiking trails, and a community that supported the outdoors.

It provided a central location to access our events and allowed us to ramp up manufacturing. We solidified our first retailers, Mast General Store and Diamond Brand - and we’re still partners with them today.

Fast forward 25 years, and we’ve grown into a global brand with a talented team of 16, nestled in the iconic Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. Our products are sold in over 13 countries across the globe, and “ENO” has become synonymous with hammocks and relaxation.

Shaping the Hammock Scene

ENO has always been more than just a hammock company. We’ve played a pivotal role in shaping the outdoor industry by challenging the status quo and creating a hammock counter-culture of taking it wherever your adventures lead you.

Over the years we’ve expanded our product line to include hammock accessories like bug nets, insulation and rain tarps, ultralight camping gear, hammock-inspired camp chairs, outdoor blankets, and even ways to hammock at home with hammock stands and hanging kits for indoors or outside.

Congrats on the milestone! Pete & Paul supported our small kids outdoor festival in the early 2000’s and never hesitated to donate product & swag every year. They helped spread the word and their amazing products made lasting impressions on the 100’s of youth. My now grown daughter adopted the hammock lifestyle thanks to her ENO connection as a child. So thanks & cheers to the next 25!

I still have one of those hammocks from 25 years ago and I still use it, I purchased it at the DEMA scuba diving convention all those many years ago. I frequently get asked questions why the hardware clips look different and look like they were from a hardware store. I love it that it has last so long. Hopefully it will last another 25 years!
