Say howdy to ENO Ambassador Libby Swegheimer! Libby radiates positive energy and is always sharing fresh ideas. She has been creating content with ENO for the past 3 years, so it was a no-brainer for her to be a part of our new Ambassador program. Get to know Libby and her endearing use of all-caps for emphasis. 

Where are you located? 

Asheville, NC.

How did you get interested in the outdoors? Why do you think time outside is important? 

I think I’ve always been interested in the outdoors! As a kid, I HATED being inside for too long no matter what the weather was or what time of day. Around age 18, I started becoming heavily interested in outdoor activities like camping, hammocking with friends, hiking, and running. From then on, I seemed to just keep adding on to the list of activities. I started frequently traveling, rock climbing, kayaking, biking, and much more! 

What are your favorite outdoor activities? 

That’s a hard one! I think traditionally hiking has always brought me the most consistent peace, excitement, and joy. It often encompasses a little bit of everything that I love about the outdoors such as hammocking once you reach the peak, or jumping in water that you stumble upon along the way, or stopping to watch the sunset with your favorite people. It can be as easy or as difficult as you want it to be and I think a solid hike in many ways can be very healing!

What is your favorite 12 oz beverage to keep in the stash pocket of your hammock?

It depends on the hammocking adventure but I think historically I love to sip on a vanilla cappuccino or iced lavender honey latte! They both fit perfectly in the pocket, especially with one of my reusable coffee cups.

What is your history with ENO gear? 

ENO and I go wayyyyyy back! Though I had seen/used other hammocks throughout life, in 2015 a friend of mine had his DoubleNest Hammock hanging up at his fire station. I was visiting him at work in the evening and as soon as we got out back where the hammock was set up, my eyes POPPED out of my head! He had a beautiful red, orange, and yellow DoubleNest Hammock and I remember being like “WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?! I NEED IT!” He kindly showed me how it all worked, tore it down, and let me borrow it for many months (he had quite the selection himself). The sadness I felt when returning it made me DART to the nearest outdoor store to buy my very own hammock. For the next 5 years, I’d bring it with me literally everywhere, showing all of my friends, going on adventures, and relaxing in the woods any chance I got! In 2020, a few years after starting my own photography/videography business, quarantine had just begun and I was bored out of my mind. I took my girlfriend with me to go film a fun passion project of what to do during quarantine. Undoubtedly, hammocking was already one of our favorite things to do together, and during quarantine, it was pretty much THE ONLY thing we could do with everything being closed. After filming a few fun little videos, I decided to send it to ENO’s Instagram. I already knew I loved the company and product, so I figured creating some work for them would be the dream! I was lucky enough to have a great friend circle that kept tagging ENO and DMing them telling them to “PLEASE HIRE LIBBY!” A few days later, I heard back from ENO, and from then on, it was history! 

Favorite ENO product(s)? 

SHEEEESH THIS IS HARD! Historically, a DoubleNest Hammock paired with some Atlas Hammock Straps has always been my go-to. Since getting the opportunity to create with ENO, I’ve gotten to try lots of new and different products! ENO’s Roan Rolltop Pack has come on most adventures with me! It’s lightweight, spacious, and breathable!

I was almost 11 lbs when I was born lol 

Best advice you were ever given? 

“The answer is always ‘No’ if you never ask.” This has tremendously helped me gain boldness and confidence when approaching projects I want to work on and companies that I want to work with. If I had never mustered up the nerve to DM ENO, the answer would’ve automatically been a “no,” but because I had the courage to send them my work and see if there were any opportunities, I opened up my odds! When you start to put yourself out there, eventually you will be seen and heard! 

Anything else you would like people to know? 

LOVE PEOPLE AND KEEP YOUR HEAD UP. When it all comes down to it, people will never forget how you made them feel. I think life is so fragile and fast, yet beautiful and vast, and at the end of the day, no one will care what was in your bank account, they will just remember you for who you were, how you treated fellow humans, and how you lived your life. <3
