Collaborating on a rare joint-fundraiser, ENO will donate 200 ATC and PCTA special-edition trail hammocks at this year’s Winter Outdoor Retailer

January 10, 2013 – Asheville, NC – If you’re heading to this year’s Winter Outdoor Retailer, be sure to stop by the Eagles Nest Outfitters (ENO) booth for a fun hammock sale with a competitive twist!  The brand is hosting a friendly competition between America’s two most famed thru-hiking trails and their conservation groups, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) and the Pacific Crest Trail Association (PCTA), with all proceeds donated to the organizations.

Dubbed “East vs. West: A Tale of Sister Trails,” the event will raise funds for both trail associations while spreading awareness about the importance of trail preservation.  ENO will be selling their special edition ATC hammock and newly released PCTA hammock with a set of ENO Atlas Straps at a special price of $50.

This will be the first time that ENO, the ATC and PCTA have collaborated on a fundraising event. While the organizations hope that the competitive aspect of the fundraiser will result in increased funding for trail preservation, the main focus of the event is to spread awareness and gain support for both trails.

It is also the first time ENO have hosted an event at their booth during the Outdoor Retailer Show. Lane Nakaji, ENO’s General Manager is excited about what their inaugural event is all about.

“The Appalachian Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail are the gateways to America’s natural beauty, and it is imperative that we preserve them for future generations,” said Nakaji. “Here at ENO, we’ve been big supporters of each these trails and this is one way to show our support but also to get the word out to fellow industry members and outdoor enthusiasts.”

Throughout the event, ENO will provide up-to-the-minute visual updates on which trail is coming out ahead in the sale.  In addition, anyone that purchases a hammock or makes a separate donation will be entered to win one of 3 grand trail package prizes. The grand prizes will feature the latest in hiking, camping, and outdoor products from ENO, Vasque, Granite Gear, Recover Brands and more.

Hammocks will go on sale at 1:00 pm on Day 1 of the show at the ENO booth #28031.  During the kick-off, the ATC and PCTA representatives will discuss what the donations will mean to their respective trails. The sale concludes on Day 3 with the Donation Presentation Party and Grand Prize Giveaway. During the party, ENO will present checks to both organizations based on overall hammock sales and the winners will be drawn for the grand prize.  Winners of the grand prize package must be in attendance in order to claim their prize.
