February 3rd, 2014 – Asheville, NC – This year’s Winter Outdoor Retailer proved particularly rewarding for Eagles Nest Outfitters (ENO), creators of hammocks and relaxation products for outdoor enthusiasts.  The brand hosted a friendly competition between America’s two most prestigious hiking trails and their conservation groups, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC), and the Pacific Crest Trail Association (PCTA), in an effort to raise funds for trail preservation and management.  The event, dubbed “East vs. West: A Tale of Sister Trails,” marked the first time that ENO, the ATC, and the PCTA had collaborated on a fundraising event. In honor of the event, ENO sold their special edition ATC DoubleNest Hammock and newly released PCTA DoubleNest Hammock with a set of Atlas Straps for a show special of $50.  ATC and PCTA representatives provided booth visitors with information about trail preservation, and booth displays featured important facts and statistics about the two trails.  One hundred percent of the sale proceeds were donated to the ATC and PCTA.  In total, ENO sold 106 hammocks, raising $5,300. “We are so pleased with the outcome of this event,” said Lane Nakaji, ENO’s General Manager.  “It was such an honor to have the opportunity to...

Hardcore environmentalists and Greenpeace activists were once the only campground guests to talk about “going green”, “carbon footprints” and being “off the grid”. Today, those terms are common for anyone who feels global warming is upon us, as well as those who want to reduce costs at the fuel pump.
Touch A Life Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Dallas, Texas that works to rehabilitate and support children who are vulnerable to trafficking, child labor and slavery in Southeast Asia and West Africa. With programs in Vietnam, Cambodia and Ghana, Touch A Life rescues, houses and educates exploited children. Touch A Life Co-Founders, Pam and Randy Cope created this inspiring foundation in 1999 after traveling to Southeast Asia to visit friends who run an orphanage in Vietnam. Here, the Copes saw poverty they never imagined. Their hearts went out especially to the street children (known as doi moi – “dust of the earth”) who were forced to live and beg on the streets, enduring hunger, abuse and the constant danger of being picked up by child traffickers and forced into a life of slavery. What started as a small apartment in Saigon, where they housed 15 rescued street children, grew and expanded to become a non-profit that provides vulnerable children across the globe with three meals a day, clothing, education, a loving family, resources to improve their futures and, above all, hope.   Touch A Life currently runs an empowerment program in Vietnam that offers assistance with school tuition, food...
